Episode 1:

Su Yi Hua, a doctor in the Surgical Department hurriedly arrives at United University Affiliated Hospital. He accepts the carefully prepared breakfast that Head nurse Wen Li made for him and listens to the schedule planned for the day. He finds out that the Director of Internal Medicine, Xu Da Ming, is looking for him. It turns out that the crowd of reporters outside the hospital entrance and Xu Da Ming's urgent request to see him is all because the President's daughter, Liu Xin Ping, has leukemia and will be admitted to their hospital. She is to receive a "small surgery" to implant a port into her body and Xu Da Ming has arranged for Su Yi Hua to be the surgeon of this operation.

In the hospital room, Yi Hua's sincerity and friendliness allowed the President to feel quite at ease; Xin Ping's optimism and Yi Hua's professionalism created a trusting and mutual relationship between them. Everything was confirmed but Xu Da Ming advocates to not inform the medical group's Tang Guo Tai with this decision.

In the operating room, the Director of the Surgical Department, Tang Guo Tai, is throwing a fit over the patient who took the wrong medication, the nurse who picked up the wrong surgical tool, and the helpless anesthetist. Fortunately, Guan Xin arrives just in time and uses the IV drip to cause the muscles to relax on the patient so that Director Tang would not find out the truth and in turn, this calms down his temper. Guan Xin's professional judgment and the way she socializes with other people catches the admiration of everyone.

After the surgery ended, Su Yi Hua meets Guan Xin. Yi Hua holds out the cookies that he made himself and indicated that today is a special day and wanted to lengthen their conversation. Yet, Guan Xin sees right through his plan and frankly says that she doesn't like the fragrant flavor of the cookie. Just when their interaction with one other was going to continue, Qiu Qing Cheng steps in. When Yi Hua was about to leave, Guan Xin calls out to him and wanted to know what was so special about today. Yet all Yi Hua said was "Hualien" before he ran off.

The Head nurse of the Operating Room, Wei Ming Zhu, finds out that Su Yi Hua will be performing the surgery for the President's daughter, Liu Xin Ping. With "good intentions", she "pointed out" the pros and cons of this development and "warned" Tang Guo Tai. Tang starts to feel the threat that will be coming his way. He immediately uses the hold that he has over the medical group and Director Zhao Zhong Ming and threatens him to secretly replace the surgeon in charge of the operation. What had appeared to be a peaceful battle quietly starts brewing in this great tower…

Tang Guo Tai is walking along the corridor; Qiu Qing Cheng follows behind him step by step. After Tang Guo Tai explains the situation, he leaves. Ma Yi Fen immediately calls Qiu Qing Cheng and their dialogue was a bit ambiguous. Looking at the surgery data list, Su Yi Hua sees that the line where the surgeon's name is supposed to be is blank. He also discovers that the anesthetist will be Guan Xin and as a result, he breathes a sigh of relief. At this time, he receives a new email that tells him that there has been a tremendous change in Liu Xin Ping's surgery and that he should get in contact with Guan Xin. Yi Hua keeps on calling Guan Xin but is not able to get in touch with her.

By the time that Qiu Qing Cheng arrives home, it was already very late in the night and he looks in on his daughter who is sleeping deeply. He and his wife, Mei Qian talks about their daughter, Xiao Min's learning condition and talked about the reality of moving houses. Qing Cheng feels that he has a promising future but his wife was not as happy as he had expected her to be. He doesn't like the fact that his wife's personality is so easily satisfied but Mei Qian just wants to live a happy and joyous life.

Guan Xin and Qiu Qing Cheng go to examine Liu Xin Ping. In the operating room, Xin Ping remembers that even though her father worries about her, yet he is being rushed off to his private plane to go off to make a speech somewhere and he had this helpless expression on his face. Guan Xin prepares Xin Ping for her anesthesia before the surgery. Su Yi Hua is startled to find out that the surgery time has moved. He hurries through the sterilization process, rushes into the operating room and sees Qiu Qing Cheng all set with the preparation…

Feeling uncertain, he finds out that the examination record shows Tang Guo Tai's seal of approval. Well informed with any news, Ma Yi Fen has been waiting on the side for a long time. Tang Guo Tai hints to Ming Zhu to go to the locker room to plan a set up. Surprisingly, the Directors of the two big departments, Tang Guo Tai and Xu Da Ming got into fight in the locker room. Ma Yi Fen immediately records the whole incident.

At 7:45, Liu Xin Ping's surgery promptly begins with Qiu Qing Cheng as the surgeon. After the surgery is completed, Tang Guo Tai, Xu Da Ming, and Qiu Qing Cheng call for a press conference. Su Yi Hua, Wen Li and others, watch the conference on the television in the hospital room. In this type of a big hospital, there is actually someone who would be worried about trivial matters like this. Wen Li's good impression of Yi Hua increases even more.

The time of the surgery draws near and Hui Ying tries not to let Nian Wei worry so she suppresses her emotions. Hui Ying smiles brightly and promises Nian Wei that she will be okay. Hui Ying immediately gets pushed into the operating room. How many life and death situations have been separated by this stainless door?

The hospital announces the death of Zhu Hui Ying. Nian Wei rushes into the operating room and painfully chokes back on his tears. Deng Nian Wei blindly sits along the corridor of the hospital until night falls. He holds a cell phone in his hands, staring down at the screen which shows "Mother Zhu." His finger is slow to press down on the send button. Guan Xin, who is just taking off from work, happens by this scene. She feels sad and can only lower her head and silently walk away.

Xin Ping has had a fever for more than 12 hours already. Yi Hua finally can't bear it and expresses his reaction to Qing Cheng. Qing Cheng believes that Yi Hua is making a big commotion over this whole thing because he wasn't able to perform the operation and insists to deny that there is a problem with Xin Ping's condition. He repeatedly emphasizes the hospital's "ethics" and "rules." Moreover, Qing Cheng smilingly tells Yi Hua that he should choose the position that would be advantageous to himself and for Yi Hua to mind his own business.

Guan Xin arrives home and turns on the lights. The place is dirty and messy. What is more frightening is that the gas stove in the kitchen is turned on and the soup in the pot has dried up already. From the bedroom, the sound of a male and female is heard laughing. Through a small opening of the door, Guan Xin sees her sister, Guan Hua sitting on top of a man's body. The guy puts on his clothes and quickly runs away. Guan Hua doesn't care and giggles and laughs. Guan Xin was so angry that she couldn't even speak.

In the hospital room, the President is looking at his daughter who is still running a fever. His heart couldn't bear it and he decided to cancel his full schedule for the day and stay behind to be with her. Xin Ping in turn comforts her father as if they really do have a happy future awaiting them.

Inside the conference room, the meeting for Liu Xin Ping's second chemotherapy session is carrying on. Xu Da Ming is hesitant about whether or not to carry out the next chemotherapy session. Qiu Qing Cheng immediately stands up and explains that the surgery was a success and praises Director Tang for his excellent skills. He denies that there is a possibility for an infection after the surgery. At this moment, Yi Hua comes into the conference room. Xu Da Ming gets the support that he needs and starts to disagree with Qiu Qing Cheng. Later, even Director Tang gets involved in the argument and enrages Xu Da Ming. In his anger, Xu reveals that the surgery should not have been performed by Tang and the atmosphere in the room immediately becomes tense and hostile.

Director Zhao, who is about to retire, just wants to settle the dispute and make peace within the hospital. He had just had both directors calmed down when Yi Hua, who is looking at the X-ray picture, suddenly calls out in alarm. He finds out that if they carry on with the chemotherapy at this time, it will cause the blood vessels to clog up. Tang still believes that Su is creating all this commotion because Su didn't perform the surgery. Besides, who is willing to tell the President that they need to operate on his daughter again? Most of the doctors present approves with Tang's thoughts. Seeing how the majority is in acceptance of Tang's points, even Xu Da Ming consents. After the meeting ended, Xu Da Ming tells Yi Hua a story. He hinted that if Liu Xin Ping is alright, then of course, congratulations are in order. However, if a problem persists, then Tang Guo Tai would be finished. And to Xu himself, wouldn't that be a good thing? This speech leaves Su cold to the heart.

Xiao Gang confesses his feelings for Wen Li to Yi Hua and he knows that the person who Wen Li actually likes is Yi Hua. As they were happily chatting with each other, Xin Ping is aware of the feelings that Wen Li has for Yi Hua. Yet she is deliberately trying to suppress her feelings for Yi Hua. Yi Hua treats the whole incident as a help from an assistant.

Yi Hua, who is just leaving Xin Ping's room, meets up with Qing Cheng at the doorway. Qing Cheng is displeased. He scolded Yi Hua and tells him not to hold on to his grudge about the operation and he blamed the security guard in front of the door that he was not strict enough. The security guard is at a lost of what to do and Yi Hua thought Qing Cheng's thinking was inconceivable.

Zhu Hui Ying's family refuses to accept the settlement and threatens that they want $8 million as compensation. Even though money is not the important issue here, but if they pay then this would be the same as admitting to a medical malpractice by the hospital. With Director Huang's reputation, this is something that cannot happen. As a result, Qing Cheng was called forward to be the middle person. He is to tactfully "communicate" with Guan Xin and have her come out and take the responsibility for this matter.

Director Ji and Manager Fang are put at ease and were finally able to come to the main point for this meeting: They want Tang Guo Tai and Xu Da Ming to fight to the end and take over the position for director of the hospital. Tang Guo Tai listens to them and repeatedly expresses that he has no interest or desire in the director's position. Yet Director Ji knows that Tang Guo Tai's desires are intense. Director Ji goes straight to the point and points out that the crucial person in this whole matter lies with Director Huang from the medical institute. Director Huang used to be Director Tang's schoolmate during their medical school period. Tang can't just come right out and bribe Huang. However, Director Ji knows that Mrs. Huang is an antique collector. A couple weeks ago, she lost the bidding for a horse statue from the Tang dynasty in an auction. As a result, Director Ji went through all means to get this antique. He wants Tang Guo Tai to give it to Mrs. Huang as a bargaining chip for this deal.

The process of Xin Ping's chemical medicine injection did not go smoothly. The resident doctor shuts off all medication injections and places the IV drip onto the floor. He did not see any signs of blood circulation. He immediately starts some processes, asks the nurse to examine the medical records and inform Assistant Director Qiu. Xin Ping's condition worsens.

Su Yi Hua is at home, staring at the small white mouse. Lots of images start appearing in his head: the day when he made the cookies, the things that Guan Xin said, the couple of minutes that they met in the elevator, Guan Xin's serious and helpless expression. How is it that their distance is so close, but it feels that they are so far apart? On the table, there is a picture of him and Guan Xin when they were young and the words on the back, is a record of their memories together. Yi Hua is deeply caught up in his emotions. Xin Ping's phone call pulls him back to reality. She wishs to be able to talk with him. Yi Hua feels that Xin Ping's condition seems out of sorts but Qiu Qing Cheng just happens to walk into the room so Xin Ping quickly hangs up.

From Qing Cheng and the nurse's interaction and dialogue, Xin Ping realizes that her condition must be very bad. Xin Ping feels that Qing Cheng is very arrogant. Even if his medical skills are better, she still would rather Su Yi Hua treat her. At least with Su Yi Hua, she would be able to feel more secure.

Qiu Qing Cheng starts to strictly control the people coming and going from Xin Ping's room. He will not let anyone interfere with her condition. As a result, even Yi Hua is being stopped by the security guard…

At the meeting, Director Huang's excessive use of professional words and his need to pacify the family members provoked the anger of Nian Wei and the others. As a result, he tosses all the questions over to Guan Xin. Guan Xin wants to first report the details of the situation but Nian Wei didn't want to hear it. He is only interested in knowing who is responsible for this whole incident. Guan Xin expresses that this is not about responsibility and Nian Wei becomes even angrier. At this time, a woman of about 50 years old, stood up. The entire room immediately becomes very quiet and Guan Xin's heart tightens a bit. This woman is Zhu Hui Ying's mother…

Guan Xin goes on stage and starts to pay a silent tribute to Hui Ying. She uses a sensible speech to express her sympathies to the victim and everyone in the room silently listens. Nian Wei counterattacks at Hui Ting and the two of them gets into a conflict. But why would Mother Zhu want a scene like this? All she wants is justice. The three of them becomes silent. Each lost in their own complicated feelings.

Director Huang never imagined that there would be this type of a disturbance in the middle of the conference. Secretary Yang reveals that Qiu Qing Cheng and Guan Xin's "communication" was not successful. She suggests that Tang Guo Tai come out and take care of this matter. Since Tang is fighting for the position as Director of the hospital, he would certainly try to help in any way he can.

On her way back to her office, Guan Xin is stopped by Yi Fen. At first Yi Fen is very polite and then she attempts to get the inside story from Guan Xin. But Guan Xin did not say anything. Met with resistance, Yi Fen left somewhat discouraged.

She feels that Yi Hua and the people in this hospital are the same - fighting over every little matter. Even Guan Xin doesn't understand him! Yi Hua is extremely disappointed. He didn't say another word and just turns around and leaves. Guan Xin immediately regrets her coldness but she didn't call out to Yi Hua and only stood at the spot.

Xin Ping is lying on the icy cold examination table. A thick cloudy substance is being injected into her vein. The machine is making a loud sound. Being afraid, she starts having trouble catching her breath and accidentally sways from side to side. The staff blames her for not being cooperative and had to start the process over again. After the photograph of her blood vessel, the President calls. She comforts her father and forcing herself to be cheerful, she announces that all was well so that he would not worry.

The medical institute's Director Huang personally pays a visit to Tang Guo Tai. He wants Tang to ask the Director of the Anesthesia Department to "look after" Guan Xin.
